Mr.
Justin Zacharia was the mainstream classroom teacher
of Timothy Leal, an individual with Autism at Huttonville
Public School in Brampton for 3 consecutive years . Mr.
Zacharia gave Timothy this very touching letter
straight from the heart.
Dear Tim,
Well, my friend, here we are for yet another end of the
year. I can’t believe we just finished our third year together. We
have certainly been through a lot together, that’s for sure. But you know
what, friend? I wouldn’t trade our time together for anything! Very
few people have impacted my life as you have, Tim. I want to thank you
for that. Thank you.
My friend, you have helped me solidify why it is I wanted to
be a teacher. More than just that, friend, you have taught me to stand by
our convictions, because it’s the right thing to do. You have reminded me
and taught your peers first-hand the value of a
tolerant society. You are constantly teaching me the power of the mind
and that a smile can take a place of a thousand words. You have taught an
entire school that you have been blessed with many gifts. You brought
tears to my eye that day, friend.
Over the last three years, I have become a better person and
teacher just for being allowed the opportunity to get to know you. Thank
you for changing my life for the better.
I will miss having you around in my class next year,
friend. I hope you will say “Hi” when you see me. Fare thee well,
friend. My hope for you is that people’s eyes continue to be opened wider
because of you. Have a great, safe and exciting summer, Tim!
Sincerely,
Mr. Z
